BEITBRIDGE’S Prince Marambani, widely known as DJ Mrex, has built a strong name in Beitbridge’s entertainment scene through years of consistent performances and crowd appeal.
Born in Beitbridge and hailing from Lutumba, Marambani first pursued soccer during his school years until 2010.
His path shifted after drawing inspiration from South African DJ Black Coffee, which led him to begin his journey as a DJ in Tembisa, South Africa.
In 2012, he returned to Beitbridge where he started performing at venues such as Blue Light and Crocodile Pub.
His presence in the local music scene grew, leading to the establishment of Mrex Entertainment, a brand now associated with popular events in the town.
By 2013, DJ Mrex had shared stages with veteran DJs including DJ Wallace, DJ Boboza and DJ Bherekhar.
During the same period, he became a regular performer at events linked to artist Makhadzi, playing at venues such as Shabwe Club Evolution from early 2013 to 2017.
He has also performed at various local events alongside acts such as Black Moon and Bhadilah from 2014 to the present day, maintaining a steady presence in the entertainment circuit.
Speaking to Ziyah News Network, Marambani said his journey into music was driven by admiration for established DJs.
“I followed Black Coffee so much and he inspired me, I started as a fan and it led me to becoming a DJ,” he said.
Event promoter, Adam Mudau told Ziyah News Network that DJ Mrex is a dedicated entertainer who understands his audience and entertainment business.
“He knows what the crowd wants when he is on set. He must be considered one of the best DJs Beitbridge will ever have,” Mudau said.
Through Mrex Entertainment, DJ Mrex continues to draw large crowds, with his performances remaining a fixture at local events.
His work has made him a familiar figure in Beitbridge, where he is regarded as one of the leading contributors to the town’s music and entertainment culture.
