Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa has issued a recall for some 2024 Ford Ranger models due to a safety defect that could increase the risk of a crash or injury. The recall affects approximately 25 vehicles sold in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Eswatini.

The issue involves a manufacturing error where the wrong part may have been installed on certain vehicles. Specifically, a front lower control arm, which is crucial for vehicle stability, may have been incorrectly fitted on the left-hand side of the affected Rangers.

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) confirmed that this defect could lead to the separation of the joint, which may result in the loss of control of the affected wheel. This could significantly impact vehicle handling and increase the risk of accidents.

Ford has responded by urging owners of the affected vehicles to contact authorized dealerships immediately. The automaker emphasized that the repairs will be carried out at no cost to the owner. Owners are advised to check if their vehicle is affected and to schedule a free inspection and repair as soon as possible.

This is not the first recall involving the Ford Ranger this year. In early May 2025, Ford Australia issued a recall for 13,490 Ranger and Everest models built between 2022 and 2025 due to a defective engine camshaft sprocket that could break unexpectedly.

Owners in the affected regions are encouraged to take this recall seriously to ensure their safety on the road.
