American R&B singer Chris Brown has been granted bail by a London court following serious allegations of assault related to a nightclub incident in 2023.
The singer who has gone through rehab for anger management seems to be struggling to overcome his anger issues with the London incident coming years after his publicized assault of fellow singer and then girlfriend Rihanna.
The 36-year-old artist was released after agreeing to strict bail conditions, including a bond of £5 million (approximately R120.9 million).
Brown’s release allows him to proceed with his upcoming “Breezy Bowl XX” world tour, which is scheduled to begin on June 8 in the Netherlands.
The singer faces a charge of grievous bodily harm after allegedly attacking music producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle at Tape nightclub in London on February 19, 2023.
The allegations are serious, but Brown has not yet entered a plea in the case. He was absent from Wednesday’s hearing at Southwark Crown Court, where Judge Tony Baumgartner approved the bail application.
Following his arrest in Manchester upon returning to the UK, Brown was briefly remanded in custody. His bail conditions include an initial payment of £4 million, with the remaining £1 million due within seven days.
He is also required to surrender his passport, though limited travel will be allowed for his tour commitments.
Brown’s legal case continues as he prepares for his international tour.
