A clinical first-half strike from Norest Mazemo was enough to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory for Kwekwe based debutants Good Morning FC against Dulibadzimu United at Dulibadzimu Stadium on Saturday.

Despite a spirited second half from the hosts and a vibrant atmosphere in the stands, “Duliz” was unable to cancel out the early deficit in this intense Central Region Division One encounter.

The visitors started the match with clear intent, dominating possession and pinning Dulibadzimu United into their own half for much of the opening period.

The pressure told in the 31st minute when Good Morning’s left attacker, Norest Mazemo, found space in the box to slot home from close range.

While the home side went into the interval trailing 1-0, the Dulibadzimu faithfuls remained undeterred, outshining the scoreboard with a “winning vibe” and relentless chanting that carried into the second half.

Dulibadzimu United returned from the break with renewed energy, sparked by the introduction of Liam Mabidi. The midfielder entered the fray in the 52nd minute and immediately seized control of the tempo, shifting the momentum back toward the hosts.

In a final throw of the dice, the Duliz technical bench introduced Bismarck (30) and David Tito (11). The late substitutions stabilized the team and allowed them to maintain high pressure until the final whistle, though a goal remained elusive.

Speaking to Ziyah News Network after the match, Dulibadzimu goalkeeper’s coach Maybach Matengu acknowledged the tactical lapses that cost them the game.

“Yes, we saw some negatives while the game was on. I believe in the next game we will clean up the mess we made today to ensure we take three points at home.”

On the opposing side, Good Morning FC Head Coach Julias Chakupewa praised his team’s composure after the long journey from Kwekwe.

“It’s a good feeling to get three points away from home. With the composure my players showed, I think we could have actually had two or more goals. We look forward to our next game against West Nicholson where we hope to use our home advantage.”

Beven Kandani Good Morning Captain said, “I am happy because of the win. Our vision is promising fireworks in our upcoming games.”

Fungai Chirinda Duliz Midfielder said, “Losing at home is never easy. We were supposed to collect three points at all costs. We need to use our home advantage better, but we promise a win in the upcoming games.”
