A 23-year-old man from Hurungwe has been sentenced to 24 months in prison after being found guilty of engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor.
The Karoi Magistrates’ Court issued the ruling, suspending 10 months of the sentence for a period of five years, with an additional 14 months suspended on the condition that the offender completes 490 hours of community service.
According to the reports states that the offender and the 15 year old juvenile got involved in a relationship. From February 2024 to the 1st of March 2025 the offender started having protected sexual intercourse with her.
The matter came to light on the 1st of March 2025 at around 1900 hours when the juvenile got home late from school.
When she was asked by her grandmother why she came home late she could not give a clear answer. The grandmother together with her father decided to go to the police. When they were on their way to the police the complainant revealed her sexual relationship with the offender.
They then proceeded to the police to report the matter leading to the offender’s arrest.
