THE death of cultural stalwart Rumbidzai Libombo is a huge loss to her and the Beitbridge family in as a whole.
The late Libombo who passed at her home on Wednesday night was active in the preservation of the Venda culture.
Besides she was active in issues concerning residents of Dulivhadzimu where she resided and met her end, the Matabeleland South Minister of State For Provincial Affairs and Devolution Albert Nguluvhe said on Friday.
He was paying homage to the late Libombo.
“It’s a big loss both to her family , the Party where she was a DCC Member and the Beitbridge community where she was very active when it came to residents concerns. She was also very active in teaching youngsters in terms of maintaining our culture,” said Nguluvhe.
“I used to move with her during (Zanu PF) Party programmes and worked with her very well. I used to assist her a lot on her medical bills including providing her with the walking stick,” he said.
The outspoken Libombo’s death came as a shock and Beitbridge social media is abuzz with news of her passing.
Residents of her neighbourhood and some across the sprawling town are making contributions to give her a resounding send off.
This is in recognition of her community work.
“We appreciate Clay Mupambiki who has provided purified drinking water at her funeral wake. He has done this at every other funeral and we appreciate his gesture,” said Boyd Maphosa from the late Libombo’s Ward 4.
Uneral arrangements are yet to be announced.
