Controversial comedienne and socialite Mai TT has unexpectedly publicly apologized to businesswoman Shingirayi Ziwange Jere, the wife of CAPS United boss and Zanu PF legislator Farai Jere, following a US$100,000 defamation lawsuit she recently filed against her.

Shingirayi Jere took legal action after Mai TT accused her of threatening behaviour, masterminding assaults, and abusing the justice system in a Facebook post dated 9 June 2025.

Mai TT’s apology marks a rare moment of humility, as she is normally known for her fierce stance in public disputes.

Through a Facebook statement, she admitted fault and expressed sincere regret, stating, “I would like to offer my deepest and most sincere apology to Hon. Farai Jere and his wife, Mrs Shingi Ziwange-Jere, for the posts made on social media regarding you. I regret the hurt and distress caused and take full responsibility for my actions. It was never my intention to bring harm or disrespect. I acknowledge the damage done. Please accept this apology with genuine remorse.”

Shingirayi Jere’s legal team, led by lawyer Admire Rubaya, previously condemned Mai TT’s accusations as entirely false and damaging. They argued that her remarks painted Jere as a “criminal queenpin” and aimed to tarnish her reputation.

Aside from the civil case, Jere also filed a criminal complaint under Zimbabwe’s Cyber and Data Protection Act, accusing Mai TT of cyberbullying, harassment, and spreading false information.

Prior to issuing her apology, Mai TT had hinted at a change of heart on social media, saying, “I have never created a fake account or utilised a ghost account to attack anyone, as I believe in expressing myself directly and honestly. However, when I respond to someone who has initially attacked me, I am often perceived as being in the wrong. I am willing to accept that there are certain conflicts that cannot be won. I often wonder what I have done to provoke such behaviour, but I recognise that some individuals will fabricate reasons to criticise me.”
