Nehemia Muchokoto (22) of Nyakuni Village, Odzi, has been sentenced to 4 years in prison for robbery. Muchokoto was convicted and sentenced by Mutare Magistrates’ Court.
According to National Prosecuting Authourity of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Muchokoto and his accomplice, Tinashe Kambarama, who is still at large, ambushed Brighton Silva (25) and his girlfriend at her homestead in Nyakuni Village.
The pair assaulted Silva with fists and booted feet, stealing his satchel, cellphone, and USD300 cash before fleeing the scene. Silva sustained bruises on his face and a swollen left eye.
The stolen items were valued at USD390, with USD90 worth of goods recovered.
Muchokoto was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment, with 1 year suspended for 5 years, resulting in an effective 4-year prison term.
