ZIMBABWE’s senior men’s cricket team has experienced delays in returning home from India, after their scheduled travel route was affected by the evolving situation in the Middle East.
Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) confirmed that the squad remains safe and well following the conclusion of their campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The team had been due to travel back to Zimbabwe via Dubai, but changing security dynamics in parts of the Middle East have disrupted key transit corridors, prompting adjustments to their itinerary.
In a statement, ZC said the players and support staff are safe in India while alternative travel arrangements are being finalised.
“Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) confirms that the Zimbabwe senior men’s team remains safe and well in India following the conclusion of their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. The squad was scheduled to return home via Dubai, but travel plans have been affected by the evolving situation in the Middle East, which has disrupted key transit routes,” the board said in a statement.
According to Reports, with regional air routes facing broader disruptions, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has stepped in, activating contingency arrangements to secure the team’s safe passage.
The global cricket body is working closely with international airlines to identify alternative routes and rebook travel for the players and support staff.
ZC said it remains in close contact with the ICC and team management on the ground, emphasising that the welfare and safety of the players is the foremost priority.
A revised departure timeline has not yet been confirmed, with further updates expected once new travel plans are secured.
