The Zimbabwe women’s national team has kicked off preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers , and the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has pledged its full support to the team.


The Mighty Warriors are set to battle against Angola in two legs on February 20th and 27th both in Luanda as their first WAFCON 2026 qualifiers matches as the country has no stadium fit to host games.


ZIFA vice president Lovenesss Mukuru pledged full support for the team and also emphasized that the association will push to capacitate the team.


“We will push to provide the necessary facilities that will enable their performance in field… we going to push for their club so that we have the best players and making sure their general welfare. With this current team that is doing to the WAFCON, we are doing to put measures for them to perform. We also secured them a very nice kit,” said the ZIFA vice president Mukuru.


ZIFA board member, Kudzai Kadzombe also rallied behind the Mighty Warriors ahead of their WAFCON qualifiers matches.


“We are hopeful and our hopes are in our Mighty Warriors that they are going to take Zimbabwe to the greatest heights possible , you (they) have our full undivided support…,” Kadzombe stated.


The Zimbabwean fans will be hoping to witness the improved support that ZIFA has pledged, after horrible previous incidents were female national teams have been subjected to inhuman treatment t and poor remuneration compared to their male counterparts. Recently the Zimbabwe U17 Girls team faced horrible treatment where they allegedly given US$5 and travel back home by public buses after the COSAFA tournament in South Africa.
