A 23-year-old woman, Melody Mwiinde, has been arrested in Siabuwa, Matabeleland North, for allegedly hanging her disabled daughter to death. The incident occurred on April 23, 2025, at Mujimba 9, Siabuwa.
According to the reports, Mwiinde used an electrical cable to hang her 6-year-old daughter from a tree branch and then dumped the body in a disused hut.
Mwiinde reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that she killed her daughter because people were mocking her for keeping a disabled child who had been disowned by the father.
The police confirmed Mwiinde’s arrest on Friday following an investigation into the minor’s cruel extermination.
Mwiinde is currently in custody, facing charges related to the murder of her daughter.
