Musician Seh Calaz has once again ignited a controversy by alleging that fellow artist Winky D is indirectly benefiting from Zanu-PF through his association with the Swan Company launch.
The Swan Company, which recently launched its products in Mbare, has been linked to Zanu-PF by Seh Calaz.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Seh Calaz pointed to what he sees as an inconsistency in Winky D’s message.
Referencing Winky D’s song “Siya,” which urges people not to rely on political or economic “bosses,” Seh Calaz argues that Winky D is being paid by these same “bosses” to perform at events like the Swan launch.
While there is no official confirmation of the Swan Company’s political affiliations, Calaz argued that participating in such events implies a connection with the ruling party.
Winky D has often been seen as a voice of the people, using his music to critique corruption, inequality, and the challenges faced by ordinary Zimbabweans.
Seh Calaz’s claims question the alignment between Winky D’s public stance and his professional engagements.
Seh Calaz admitted to having benefited from Zanu-PF connections in the past, citing a car gifted to him by businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo, who is a known supporter of Zanu-PF.
Calaz used this example to argue that many in the entertainment industry rely on funding and opportunities connected to influential figures or institutions, including those linked to Zanu-PF, regardless of their political or social messaging.
