Beitbridge was brought to a standstill yesterday when Zimdancehall sensation Silent Killer, born Jimmy Mudereri, made a grand entrance into the town

The superstar, known for his controversial lyrics came to the border town to perform at the SWAN launch Beitbridge edition was swarmed by multitudes of fans when he entered Dulibadzimu Stadium prompting an abrupt stop to the football match between Beitbridge legends and Messina Stars.

As word spread that the chanter had arrived, fans descended from the terraces to mob him. Police struggled to control the crowd and the musician had to be whisked away to control the crowd and allow the match to continue.

Ngwere as Silent Killer is affectionately called by his fans had come to the stadium to watch the last match of the day before his performance at the concert venue later on in the same day.

When his time came to perform,  Ngwere did not disappoint,  instantly connecting with the fans churning out hits like ngirozi yehondo.

However it wouldn’t be a Silent Killer performance if no controversy had laced it. As he connected with his fans , the Zim danceable artist asked security to let his fans enjoy encroaching into the safety zone, “Siyai Ngwere dzifare,” he chanted.

When the police did not comply rather responding by pushing back the encroaching fans, he immediately shouted “handisikufara inini ,” immediately throwing the microphone down on the stage and walking off in protest.

He had to be persuaded by organisers to return but only did one song before he left.The oversubscribed musical also featured Dendera crooner Sulumani Chimbetu, Freeman, Ndolwane Super Sounds, Killer T and the Chillspot duo of DJs Fantan and Levels.
