The  South African Border Management Authority Commissioner Michael Masiapato praised the newly deployed drones, emphasising their importance in  enhancing  the overall effectiveness of the BMA daily operations.

Following the deployment of drones and body cameras by the South African government to help the BMA ‘s operations, Commissioner Masiapato highlighted  the drones helps the team monitor across all vulnerable segments which helped them intercept thousands of people trying illegally cross into South Africa.

“With the introduction of the drones, the most powerful part of it is, we are able to monitor across the vulnerable segments, it is for that reason of the importance and efficiency of drones, that we can talk about a thousand plus people that we were able to intercept just in the past four days,” BMA Commissioner Masiapato stated.

 Beitbridge border has  faced challenges due it’s porous border line however  with the introduction of new high tech drones on the South African  and Zimbabwean side, it is expected to help in cracking  down on  illegal activities across the border.
