Harare – Controversial and flamboyant Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has issued a stern warning to individuals attempting to profit from his name by writing unauthorized books about his life.
In a strongly worded statement released on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, Chivayo made it clear that he has not given anyone permission to write, publish, or distribute any books or material claiming to tell his story personally or professionally.
“I have not authorised any book or publication about me. These are just criminals trying to make money by using my name without permission,” Chivayo said.
He further warned that legal action will be taken against anyone who continues with such projects.
“Anyone writing books about me to make money will face the full wrath of the law. Let it be clear I have no intentions of being featured in any book. This must stop immediately.”
Chivayo emphasized that any so-called biography or official life story in circulation is false, and he urged the public and publishers to treat such content as “rubbish.”
Legal experts back his stance, stating that using someone’s name or likeness for profit without consent can lead to serious legal consequences, including lawsuits for misrepresentation, defamation, or infringement of personality rights.
Chivayo, who is often in the spotlight for his business deals, flashy lifestyle, and philanthropic activities, said he is focused solely on his ventures and has no interest in being the subject of any publication at least not now.
As his warning circulates, those with publishing ambitions around the businessman’s life may need to reconsider their plans or prepare for a legal battle.
