COACH Stanley Ncube has returned to his roots of Beitbridge Town, this time to ply his trade with Vhembe Stars Academy as head of mission.
Ncube, popularly known as Stano, joins the struggling side ahead of their clash with ZRP Gwanda on Match Day 25 at Dulivhadzimu Thursday.
Vhembe Stars Academy Secretary General Foster Abeki confirmed the arrival of Ncube, who was previously the assistant coach for Kwekwe United.
“Vhembe Stars Academy is pleased to announce the arrival of Stanley Ncube, whose experience and coaching expertise are invaluable to the club,” Abeki said.
The club said Thursday Stano, goes on a “watching brief” against ZRP Gwanda but takes full reigns over the team’s next assignment.
The Limpopo River side currently sits in the bottom three of the table with just 19 points from 24 matches.
Vhembe Stars have recorded only four victories, 12 defeats and seven draws, results which are far below the ambitions of the club’s owners.
The Beitbridge side has seen several changes in the technical team since joining the Central Region Soccer League, sacking Philimon Mutyakureva and Blessing Madombi before hiring seasoned Stano, all within a single season.
Heading into the clash with ZRP Gwanda, Vhembe Stars are eager for redemption in front of their home fans, having endured five consecutive defeats both home and away.
The club aims to improve its performance, as their poor run of form has left them staring at a serious relegation battle with only a few matches remaining in the season.
Their losses are intriguing in that their game is more appealing than anyone but is devoid of the final pass.
“Results will come definitely. Results will eventually come to us, good results are on the way,” Abheki said.
Thursday, Vhembe Stars Academy will limp with several key players sidelined due to injury, including Ashley Kolia Mbedzi as they face off with unpredictable ZRP Gwanda.
Dependable “Maguire”, their first choice centre back played th last match with an injury but cannot take the risk again.
