VHEMBE Stars Academy U19 on Sunday beat Dulivhadzimu United Under 19 two nil in the mini Battle Limpopo River derby.

This was Match Day 2 of the ZIFA Matabeleland South Pool B on 5 July 2026 at Dulibadzimu Stadium.

Following an impressive 2-0 win against Nottingham on Match Day 1, Vhembe Stars Academy U19 maintained their winning rhythm with another 2-0 victory over their local rivals.

Both sides went into halftime deadlocked at 0-0, after failing to capitalise on the chances they created.

The breakthrough came in the 67th minute when Emmanuel Ncube took advantage of a mistake by Dulibadzimu United U19 goalkeeper Teboho Tlou to give the Greens the lead.

Eight minutes later, Ncube doubled the advantage with a beautiful header.

The goal came from a Brian Ndlovu freekick assist from 30 yards out.

Dulibadzimu United tried to respond with several substitutions.

Manaka Kgaisho was replaced by Pheneas Mugugu, while Ronald Verah made way for Kabelo Manaka and Emmanuel Bhebhe. But the changes failed to change the outcome of the game.

In a post-match interview, Vhembe Stars Academy U19 coach Paul Mugabiri praised his side’s performance.

“The match was plaed brilliantly and tense. The boys did very well to secure the win in this derby and that is the most important thing,winning all three points,” Mugabiri said.

He also praised goalkeeper Selector Mutenda for his brilliant saves that helped the team keep a clean sheet.

A back to back victories saw, Vhembe Stars Academy U19 sitting on 6 points after 2 matches.

Meanwhile in the Central Region Soccer League Division One, Dulibadzimu United’s senior team suffered a 2-0 loss away to ZRP Gwanda.

Louis Matambo was sent off in the 37th minute, alongside two ZRP Gwanda players.

The defeat means Dulibadzimu United have now suffered back to back losses, following a 3-1 defeat to Grain Tigers.
