The Beitbridge Civil Court has issued a protection order against Nation Ndou accused of physical and emotional abuse of his wife Ellen Maspala.

Maspala told the court her husband repeatedly hit, hurled degrading insults including calling her a prostitute, and threatening to kill her.

She said Ndou threw away her mobile phone line, effectively cutting off her communication.

In response to the magistrate question what he said during the assaults she said she was fhreatened by death.

“He say he wishes he could choke me until I die,” Maspala told the court, visibly shaken but resolute.

Her testimony painted a disturbing picture of sustained abuse and intimidation within the home.

Ndou did not contest the allegations

“That’s all, I agree to what she has said,” he told the court, also affirming his acceptance of the court’s ruling.

The magistrate Hazel Chitopo, issued a binding protection order prohibiting Ndou from destroying any property belonging to Ndou, physically assaulting her and threatening her life or safety

The court warned that any violation of the order would result in legal consequences, including potential civil action.
