A Beitbridge woman, Febby Mudau, has been granted a five-year protection order against her husband, Alfios Tikishi, following allegations of harassment, threats, and emotional abuse.
The matter was heard before Magistrate Mbonisi Kaweni, where Mudau told the court that she had been married to Tikishi since 2003 and that the couple has three children.
Mudau alleged that her husband had been harassing and chasing her away from their matrimonial home, claiming he could not live with a person living with a positive health status.
She further accused Tikishi of disclosing her health status to other people without her consent.
She also told the court that Tikishi had sold 40 goats belonging to the family without consulting her and did not give her any share of the proceeds.
Mudau further accused her husband of insulting her, threatening to kill her, and disposing of family property without her knowledge or consent.
In response, Tikishi told the court that the family’s problems intensified after he lost his job in 2023.
He said he was willing to separate from his wife, stating that he feared his temper could lead to further conflict.
“The whole issue started when I lost my job in 2023. I am willing to separate in every way possible because when such issues arise, I get angry and end up at the police. I can leave the house for the sake of peace,” he told the court.
Tikishi indicated that he had no objection to the court issuing a protection order and said he was prepared to comply with any restrictions imposed.
After considering submissions from both parties, Kaweni granted a protection order in favour of Mudau.
The order will remain in force for five years.
