Southern Regional Soccer League champions ZPC Hwange has been crowned the inaugural champion of Champions four team’s tournament featuring the regional division one league winners
ZPC Hwange defeated Triangle 2-1 in final of the four team tournament .On their road to the final ,ZPC Hwange secured a 4-3 victory penalty shootout win over Scotland to book a place in the final after 1-1 draw in regular time of play while the Eastern Region Soccer League champions Triangle defeated Kwekwe United 5-4 on penalty after the match ended 1-1 during regular time.
ZPC Hwange’s John Chinyerere scored the opener in the first 3 minutes of the first half, followed by Triangle‘s Menford Mudzimu with the equalizer from the spot. On the 20th minute, ZPC Hwange reclaimed the lead through Dingani Maphosa who scored wha turned out to be the winning goal.
Meanwhile, Central Region Soccer league champions Kwekwe United claimed the 3rd place after beating Scottland 3-1 in the 3rd place playoff.
Much fancied and flamboyant Scottland failed to illuminate the tournament leaving with no win.
The tournament served as a platform for the regional division 1 champions to prepare and fix their weakness before joining the top flight Zimbabwean Premier League teams.
These four teams will be preparing for the better 2025 PSL campaign and hoping to compete for the title with Scottland rumoured to be signing Zimbabwe‘s top stars.
