The Mbare Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 20 year old Aleck Junior Idi to three years in prison for dagga possesion.
According to the National Procesuting Authority of Zimbabwe, detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics unit acting on a tip-off raided the suspect’s house in Mbare’s 5th Avenue,on the 25th of April 2025 at around 0730 hours.
After the detectives identified themselves, they proceeded to search the kitchen, where they recovered a black canister labeled “tea” containing 19 sachets of dagga.
A further search of the house led to the discovery of 30 more sachets hidden in a cooler bag.
This led to the arrest of the offender and the seizing of dagga weighing 1.45kg.
He was sentenced to an effective three year jail term.
The NPAZ emphasized that the criminal justice system is equipped with necessary statues to punish individuals who perpetuate the existence and use of these dangerous substances substances.
