A 35 year old Chamnanga man Prosper Ndou has appeared before Beitbridge Magistrate Hazel Chitopo on allegations of raping a 15 year old relative from his neighbourhood.

He was not asked to plead and had his trial date set for October 2.

Chitopo remanded him in custody.

The state is alleging that Ndou, an unemployed man from Chamunanga village, Chief Sitaudze, Beitbridge raped the girl who cannot be named to protect her.

Sometime in April 2025 at around 1500 hours, the girl, a Form 2 student, was on her way to Chicago Business Centre using a footpath when she met Ndou.

He is alleged to have grabbed her hand and dragged her to a secluded place along the riverbank despite her attempts to wrestle free.

He then had sexual intercourse with her without her consent and neither did he use any protection against disease or pregnancy in form of a condom.

After the alleged act Ndou wore his trousers and left the scene leaving his victim who dusted herself and proceeded.

The matter matter came to light around early September 2025, when the girl disclosed the incident to her school teacher who in turn contacted Department of Social Development leading to the accused person’s arrest.
Wilbrought Muleya is prosecuting.
