Baba Harare is facing backlash from his devoted fans after he labeled his past Jiti music as “nonsense.”
The singer, who recently made headlines for abandoning the Jiti genre in favuor of gospel music, found himself at the center of a heated controversy following his blunt remarks during a recent interview.
Fans of Baba Harare, who loved his Jiti music and are still trying to come to terms with his switch to gospel, were hit with another shock when he claimed that some aspects of his previous music are nonsense; as a result, many loyal followers feel he is attacking the very music that made him famous.
During the interview, Baba Harare admitted, “The music I was singing was nonsense, and I already knew it. I even wrote it knowing that I was singing nonsense; at times, I would write sensible music, but I would erase it. It’s human nature to listen to nonsense.”
His acknowledgment that he was aware of the content while writing has struck a chord of disappointment among fans who found joy and meaning in his earlier works.
The fallout was swift, with social media exploding with reactions. Fans took to various platforms to express their dismay, asserting that despite Baba Harare’s claims, his Jiti music resonated deeply with them.

In a bold challenge, some fans urged Baba Harare to remove his Jiti tracks from YouTube if he genuinely believes they are worthless.
“Nonsense is what we want. We know you because of nonsense” ” they declared, emphasizing that the music still holds significant value in their lives.
As followers grapple with his new direction, the conversation surrounding the meaning and impact of art persists, reminding everyone that what may seem like “nonsense” to one could be a treasure to another.
