BEITBRIDGE ‘s next dance superstar will emerge later this August as registrations open for the town’s inaugural Beitbridge Dance Battle.
The competition, themed Don’t Watch from the Crowd, Be the Star, will be held, on a date and venue yet to be announced.
Organisers are calling on dancers from across Beitbridge to register and seize the opportunity to showcase their talent.
As Beitbridge’s entertainment scene continues to evolve, the event is expected to attract some of the district’s most recognisable TikTok dance personalities, including Vince de Small, Copper, PhandaMo, Lion Cheese and other eager to battle.
Event organiser Shimron Sibanda said the competition was created to give dancers a platform that has long been dominated by musicians and DJs.
“Usually, it is artists and DJs who get events and a platform to shine in town. Hosting this event will promote the dance industry and inspire many young people to sharpen their skills and begin creating choreography that can be relied upon as a profession,” said Sibanda.
He also said, the dance battle is more than just a competition but a launchpad for Beitbridge’s finest performers.
Speaking to Ziyah News Network, Vincent Madhiri, popularly known as Vince de Small, welcomed the initiative, saying it comes at the right time for dancers in the border town.
“It is an honour for us dancers to be remembered through such an initiative. It has been three years of being in the industry, and no entertainment team has ever hosted a proper battle for dancers to showcase their talent,” he said.
“I feel this event might be the beginning of discovering just how much talent Beitbridge carries and deserves recognition.”
Dancing can be relied on as a profession, drawing inspiration from Limpopo-born dancer Bujwa, whose success on international stages demonstrates how regional talent can reach the global spotlight.
With registrations now open, anticipation is building for a contest that promises explosive performances, fresh choreography and the discovery of Beitbridge’s next dance sensation.
