Construction of Mabidi Clinic in Beitbridge East has received a major boost following the delivery of building materials under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), bringing renewed hope that the long-awaited project will soon be completed.

Beitbridge East Member of Parliament, Albert Nguluvhe, on Monday handed over 100 bags of cement and 20,000 bricks to support the ongoing works.

The materials were officially presented to the Municipality of Beitbridge as part of efforts to accelerate progress at the site.

The clinic project, which began in 2023, had been progressing slowly due to limited resources, but the latest intervention is expected to fast-track construction, with local leaders expressing optimism that the structure could be roofed before the onset of the rainy season.

Speaking during the handover, Nguluvhe said the donation was informed by the need to complete stalled or slow-moving projects within the constituency.

“We realised that Ward 3 had not yet benefited from CDF support, and at the same time, this clinic is a critical project that needs to be completed. This is why we decided to channel resources here to push the construction forward,” he said.

He said that improving infrastructure such as health facilities remains a priority, particularly in areas where communities travel long distances to access services.

Currently, residents in Ward 3 walk more than seven kilometres to the district hospital, a situation the new clinic is expected to ease once completed.

Representing the Mayor, Councillor Emmanuel Taku Taku welcomed the development, describing it as a turning point for the project.

“This is not just a donation of cement and bricks; it is a significant step towards completing a facility that will serve our people. It gives us the momentum we needed to move forward,” he said.

He assured stakeholders that systems would be put in place to ensure accountability and proper use of the materials, while also confirming that work on site is already underway.

“Our builders are already on site, and with this support, we are confident that the clinic will be roofed before the coming rain season,” he said.

Ward 3 Councillor and Chairperson of the Works Committee, Takavingei Mahachi, also welcomed the intervention, saying it has reignited progress on a project that is crucial to the community.

He called on other stakeholders, including the business community and fellow councillors, to complement government efforts and ensure the clinic is completed on time.

“Government has played its part, and now we must all come together to make sure this clinic is finished. Let us build on this momentum,” he said.

Once completed, Mabidi Clinic is expected to significantly improve access to healthcare services for residents in Ward 3 and surrounding areas, reducing travel distances and easing pressure on existing health facilities.
