The Miss South Africa organisation has officially announced that the country will not be participating in the upcoming Miss Supranational 2025 pageant, scheduled for June in Poland.
The decision has sparked mixed reactions among fans and pageant enthusiasts.
In a public statement and social media post, the organisation expressed gratitude to supporters for their loyalty, while clarifying that the decision was made internally.
“The Miss South Africa Organisation has decided not to participate in the Miss Supranational 2025 competition and will not be renewing its license for the event,” the statement read.
This marks the second consecutive year that reigning Miss South Africa Mia le Roux will not represent the country on an international stage.
In 2024, she withdrew from the Miss Universe pageant citing health reasons—a decision that was met with widespread support.
Amid circulating rumors and speculation surrounding the recent withdrawal, the organisation moved swiftly to clarify the situation. They emphasized that the decision was solely theirs and not related to Mia le Roux or the runner-up, Nompumelelo Maduna.
“We note the fake news circulating and confirm that this decision was made solely by the Organisation,” the statement clarified.
While some fans expressed disappointment over South Africa’s continued absence from high-profile global pageants, many appreciated the organisation’s transparency and strategic approach to managing their titleholders’ commitments.
With no plans to renew the Miss Supranational license, South Africa’s future participation in that pageant remains uncertain. For now, all eyes are on the Miss South Africa organisation’s next moves and how Mia le Roux’s reign will unfold in the coming months.
