The intense competition that has characterised the Central Region Soccer League thus far, was on full display this past weekend as the battle for supremacy and survival hit the home stretch of the league marathon.
Log leaders Kwekwe United played nil all stalemate in top of the table clash with second placed Tongogara FC which leaves the teams separated by the same number of points going into last weekend’s round of fixtures.
Competition is heating up with just three points in it between the two teams. Elsewhere, Dulibadzimu United continued with their dreadful dropping points on the road as they succumbed to 0-1 loss to airmen Chapungu. The win for Chapungu cemented its grip on third place as Duliz dropped by single place to 5th relinquishing the fourth place to the Construction Boys, Sheasham. Sheasham edged fellow Midlanders, FC Wangu Mazodze City.
Things are not only heating up at the top as the battle of survival from relegation is cranking up too. Beitbridge FC’s quest for survival received a moral boosting shot as the border town team managed to eke out a draw against ZRP Gwanda away from home. Bottom of the pack Black Eagles who have seemingly made the last spot on the log their own, lost their 16th league match against FC Platinum U19 by a goal to nil, whilst Gokwe north lost to the students MSU FC by 3-2. Both teams are fighting hard to avoid the dreaded chop.
Here are the rest of the results from the weekend’s fixtures:
