Dynamos Football Club has sought to quell growing speculation over alleged match manipulation after an internal letter suspending head coach Genesis Mangombe was leaked to the public.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Executive Chairman Vincent Chawonza said the correspondence sent to Mangombe and some members of his technical team was strictly confidential and intended solely for internal disciplinary proceedings.

The statement follows days of intense media coverage and social media speculation after the suspension letter surfaced, triggering claims that other Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs and officials could be linked to a wider match-fixing syndicate.

Dynamos dismissed the claims as baseless.

“At this stage, Dynamos Football Club categorically states that, based on the preliminary findings and information currently available, no allegations have been made against any other Premier Soccer League (PSL) club, official, or external individual,” Chawonza said.

“No other PSL clubs are implicated in these allegations, and any assertions to the contrary are false, misleading, and without foundation.”

The leaked suspension letter accuses Mangombe of manipulating match outcomes by deliberately deploying players in unsuitable positions, allegedly weakening the team’s competitive performance.

According to the club, Mangombe is under investigation for allegedly ensuring Dynamos would “either lose the games or at least draw (avoiding a win result)” in four matches.

The fixtures cited include the club’s 5-0 defeat to Scottland in the Castle Challenge Cup on 1 March 2026, where Mangombe allegedly fielded players out of position without justifiable reasons. Also listed are the 1-0 Charity Shield defeat to Highlanders, the 2-2 league draw against Hunters, and the 2-1 loss to CAPS United.

Chawonza stressed that references to the fixtures and opposing clubs were included only because they form part of the internal investigation and should not be interpreted as implicating any rival teams.

“References to specific fixtures and opposing clubs were included solely because those matches form part of the allegations under investigation and should not be interpreted as implicating any opposing team or its officials,” he said.

The club further sought to reassure stakeholders that there was no indication the integrity of the domestic league had been compromised.

“Dynamos Football Club wishes to reassure the PSL, our sponsors, supporters, and all stakeholders that there is no evidence suggesting that the integrity of the league has been compromised,” Chawonza said.

“This matter remains an isolated internal issue which the Club is treating with the utmost seriousness and professionalism.”

Dynamos confirmed that Mangombe and the unnamed members of his technical team remain suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

The club said it would not comment further until the disciplinary process has been concluded.

“In the interest of preserving the integrity of the ongoing process, the Club will not issue any further comments until the internal investigation has been concluded,” the statement said.
