MORE than five years after his death, Zimbabwean socialite and businessman Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure continues to generate public attention.

This public attention is not through business ventures or his flamboyant nightlife appearances, but through an unexpectedly active digital presence that has turned his Instagram account into a virtual public square.

As of Thursday, April 16, the late businessman’s Instagram page remained highly engaged, attracting continuous commentary from users discussing politics, sport, business and global developments as though communicating directly with him.

In recent activity, users flooded the comment section with claims and reactions to current affairs.

One comment alleged that South African political leader Julius Malema had been sentenced to five years in prison, sparking debate among followers who questioned and discussed the credibility of the claim.

Other users used the platform to share regional updates and discussions, including commentary about the Zimbabwean bird reportedly returning to South Africa a topic that quickly evolved into broader conversation threads on cross border relations and symbolism.

The page has also increasingly become a space for informal business promotion.

A user identified as makundatakunda directly addressed Ginimbi in a promotional message, writing:

“Boss G, I now have a company that sells solar packages. It is in Harare CBD corner Kwame and Chinhoyi, Gracewood Mall shop number 12, I deliver nationwide…”

The comment reflects a growing trend where entrepreneurs use the late businessman’s account as a visibility platform, blending marketing with personal engagement in a way that mirrors his own well-known business persona during his lifetime.

Sporting debates have also found their way into the comment section.

Under one post, Ashley_chinkazo_official asked:

“Boss Gee, will Arsenal take the league?”

The question triggered engagement from other users, turning the thread into a spontaneous football discussion, further highlighting how the page has evolved into a space for casual public discourse.

Ginimbi, who died on 8 November 2020 in a tragic car accident in Domboshava involving a Rolls Royce that collided with another vehicle before crashing into trees and catching fire, was widely known for his flamboyant lifestyle and entrepreneurial success.

He founded Pioneer Gases, which operates across Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa and owned Dreams Nightlife Club, becoming one of the country’s most recognisable social and business figures.

Born on 10 October 1984 in Domboshava, Kadungure rose from early business dealings in gas trading to building a multi-million-dollar brand, with his wealth and lifestyle often making headlines.

Today, his legacy appears to have taken on a different form sustained not only through memory, but through a continuously active digital space where strangers interact, debate and even market services under his name.

In death, Ginimbi remains a figure of conversation. And on social media, his presence continues to blur the line between remembrance and ongoing public engagement.
