The Alexandra Regional Court in Johannesburg has heard that the victim in the case of Bellarmine Mugabe and co-accused was paid R250 000 in exchange for silence.
The investigating officer says the man who had been shot and wounded in February was going to be paid another R150 000.
The victim had been employed at the residence of Bellarmine Mugabe and co-accused Tobias Matonhodze.
The two appeared in court last week, where they pleaded guilty to several charges, including attempted murder.
Mugabe pleaded guilty to pointing a firearm and contravening South Africa’s immigration laws.
While Matonhodze pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder, illegal immigration, possession of ammunition and defeating ends of justice.
The postponement to this week was to give the defence time to find the weapon used in the attempted murder of Sipho Mahlangu.
Mahlangu, who was employed at the Mugabe residence in Hyde Park, Johannesburg, was shot and wounded in February.
The gun that was used is yet to be found.
The matter was postponed to Wednesday next week.
