The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has announced that its Appeals Committee is set to convene at 11:00 AM on November 14, 2024, to address the appeal lodged by Karoi United regarding the contentious judgment in their recent match against Scotland.
In an official statement, ZIFA confirmed receipt of Karoi United’s appeal and emphasized the importance of timely submissions of any additional materials before the scheduled hearing. “The Zimbabwe Football Association would like to inform you that the matter has been duly noted. The Appeal Committee is provisionally scheduled to sit on the 14th of November 2024 at 11hrs. Should you wish to submit any further materials, please do so before the set date. We have also written to the Northern Region, requesting the record of proceedings,” the statement read.
This announcement comes shortly after Karoi United expressed dissatisfaction with the Northern Region Soccer League’s (NRSL) ruling regarding the abandonment of their match against Scotland. The NRSL deemed Karoi to be at fault, resulting in a 3-0 victory being awarded to Scotland. Additionally, Karoi United was fined $2,000, with $500 of the penalty suspended on the condition that the club refrains from similar offenses in the future.
As the November 14 hearing approaches, Karoi United awaits the resolution of their appeal while Scotland remains hopeful for a favorable outcome which guarantee their premiership status.
With emotions running high and considerable stakes involved, both clubs will be watching closely as the Appeals Committee prepares to address one of the most topical issue in Zimbabwe this significant issue in Zimbabwean football.
